MYTHICAL · THE JUNGLE

Sperm Whale

Sperm Whale is mythical, and the official API places it on The Jungle. It is not a legendary, and it is not an Arctic fish. On 23 October 2026 the max weight was 218,299.38 lb, the average 67,516.69 lb, catches 24, and max value 14,656.46.

Baits with catches: Chopped Bait XLarge, Chopped Bait Heart, Spider Jungle Ragdoll, and Sleeping Troll Ragdoll. A required weather, clock time, and meter depth are not in the API. Ocean water past Bait Island is the community deep spot for the Jungle, around 9,000 in their units, and that figure is not official.

Capture fields and evidence status

Unpublished values stay explicitly unknown; community reports are not presented as official measurements. This field card distinguishes map/catch data from conditions that have not been confirmed.

Evidence status by capture field
Field	Value / status	Evidence
Recorded map	The Jungle	Official species API snapshot
Tier	Mythical	Tier source stated on the rare-fish overview; not an API field
Observed baits	Chopped Bait XLarge, Chopped Bait Heart, Spider Jungle Ragdoll, and Sleeping Troll Ragdoll	Official catch records; not a guarantee or recipe
Depth	Community guide reports ocean beyond Bait Island at about 9,000 game depth units; not official meters	Community guide only where specified; no official meter value
Required weather	Not confirmed	No per-fish requirement in official species data
Time of day	Not confirmed	No per-fish requirement in official species data
Fish coordinates	Not published	Map-point API contains map POIs, not fish spawn pins

How to fail it

A decoy strike is documented for legendary and mythical fish. The first click can be a fake. Reeling up because you saw nothing is the usual miss. Tension rules are the same as every other heavy fish: release when the bar spikes. There is no published break threshold.

Questions

Do I need the MOBY rod?

Not in the sources used here. MOBY is named for Rhizo and recommended by the community for some other mythicals. This fish’s catch list does not say the rod is mandatory.

Is 140,842 lb a record?

A Steam review cited a 140,842.60 lb catch. The API max is higher. Both can be true at different times.
