How to play GONE Fishing
Hold left click to charge a cast, release to throw, and click again when the strike marker sits in the green. Quota is fish value, not a head count. The altar fire turning blue means the day is paid.
Night creatures start appearing around 20:00 in the documented cycle. The host can force the next day after 22:30. A 24 July 2026 patch shortened the day by 15 percent. An exact real-world minute length is not published.

Death and the quota
Miss the quota and sleep, and a monster may kill a player. In solo, or as the last person alive, a living dog may be taken first. A heart can stop the grab. Death drops held items but not bait. Older community guides describe next-day respawn and heart resurrection. The 22 October 2026 Jeremy Wade changes remove heart resurrection specifically in that difficulty; check the current mode before planning a revive. Solo death is a game over. Jeremy Wade and Hardcore can delete or reset the save. Quota growth flattening near day 40 is a community claim, not restated in the 1.0 notes.
Questions
Is the first-day route official?
No. It is a community-tested order: altar, starter bait, dock fish, sell, shelter. The quota rules themselves are in the guides and the official FAQ.
Do trinkets replace the rod?
No. Eight trinkets arrived in 1.0. The 22 October 2026 patch still adjusts line, rod, and sinker costs.
