REVIEW
Is GONE Fishing worth it?
At the 23 October 2026 US snapshot of $6.69, I would spend the money with friends who already like quota co-op. I would not sell it as a polished horror game you play alone for a tight six-hour story.
Steam snapshot checked 23 October 2026: 2,171 English reviews, 92 percent positive. The recent 30 days: 117 reviews, 84 percent positive. Those are different windows. Neither is a Metacritic score. No major-aggregator score was available to cite.
What holds up in the reviews
Quoted players mention fish, gambling, absurd bait, and a race against the night. One 11-hour review expected a calm co-op fisher and got a time limit instead. The funny cruelty (a body as bait) is part of the appeal and part of the warning.
- Fits: a group that wants a silly, mean, systems-heavy co-op night.
- Fits: people who like a long fish index and frequent patches.
- Skip for now: solo players who want a directed scare, or anyone who bounces off jank and host-side performance.
- Console players: there is nothing to buy. See the platform pages.
Questions
Is it “Lethal Company but fishing”?
That is a community line, including a cloud-play blurb. The comparison page keeps the facts separate from the slogan.
Are the quoted reviews from 1.0?
Several high-voted ones are still marked Early Access. Read the date on Steam before you treat them as a 1.0 verdict.
